Making Music in LA Since 2012
Each year, on June 21st, we celebrate Make Music Day by asking you to tune up your instruments and MAKE MUSIC! We have been celebrating Make Music LA since 2012 and thank everyone who’s contributed along the way.
A free celebration of music and its power to bring communities together, Make Music Day was launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique. It is now held on the same day in more than 1200 cities in 120 countries.
Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music Day is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.

A Message From Our Founder
Welcome to Make Music LA 2025!
Once again, the world will embrace music on the first day of summer. Our theme this year is The Healing Power of Music.
The start of 2025 has been difficult for most of us living in Los Angeles. The wildfires left devastation beyond our comprehension. Communities of homes, businesses, schools, and recreation are no longer in existence.
How do we move forward? If we face the difficulty straight on, we find that there are always challenges to overcome, embrace, and move forward in life. We need comfort and assurance to get through it one step at a time. Music touches our hearts and lifts our spirits.
In Los Angeles, more than 200 languages are spoken - imagine what that means when it comes to music! We can travel the world through music! On June 21st, we will be in sync globally with the highest vibrations of music.
Make Music Day is filled with joy for music lovers. Whether outdoors in a park, porch, plaza, train station, or bus stop, everyone is welcome to participate. Make Music Day is free for everyone. We invite you to join us in the worldwide celebration of Make Music Day. We are part of something special; you can participate in the fun. Play, listen, or host!
Bring joy to your community by signing up to perform or host an event. So, if you are a library, gallery, performance venue, park, or store, please sign up to host the musicians you choose to perform. If you are a solo artist or have a band, please sign up to play.
We look forward to a wonderful day and night of music.
Love,
Dorsay Dujon, Make Music LA Founder

“Make Music LA is more than just a day of free concerts. It’s about engaging our children and their families, to transform lives through music.”
